Advanced Composition is a one-semester course designed to assist students in the mastery of the writing process and familiarize them with the types of writing they will encounter in college. In this course the student becomes proficient in argumentative writing while responding to increasingly complex non-fiction texts. Developing critical reading skills is an essential component of the course. Students will review MLA format and produce a required research paper. Over the summer, each student will complete a required reading assignment, to be announced in May.
