This course by the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the BCS Academy of Computing aims to introduce students to computing science and enable them to develop both programming skills and deep understanding of core computing concepts, including computational thinking. It is based on the Scratch programming environment, developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology .
This is the first in a series of three course that exemplify a subset of the computing science-related outcomes of CfE at Levels 3 & 4 and beyond.
It builds on state-of-the-art understanding of the pedagogy of computing, drawn from around the world. As well as lessons, exercises and sample answers, it contains suggested supplementary activities and interdisciplinary learning opportunities. It also includes accompanying tutor notes.
