Description
This class asks: when we study violence in American History, how does our understanding of American history change? What can we learn from the absence of violence? Do patterns emerge over time? Why? What can we discover about American history by exploring these changing patterns? We will approach these questions topically, exploring urban violence, racially-motivated violence, gender- and sexuality-motivated violence, and finish with a unit on school shootings.
