This college level course is offered to interested and qualified junior students who wish to enhance their rhetorical skills. Through a variety of genres (mainly taken from American literature), students will examine style and invention, and compose several papers covering a variety of arrangements. Many smaller written assignments will help the students to "become increasingly aware of themselves as writers and of the techniques employed by the writers they read." (AP Course Audit Manual, 2006: English Language and Composition) There is constant feedback and revision with the smaller (1-2 pages) assignments. The first semester focuses on invention and analytical, argumentative, and narrative writing.
