In this foundational level, project-based short course, students will use Autodesk® Fusion360™ and the principles of Design Thinking to design, create, and share a 3D model for a smartphone case. Students will develop problem-solving skills and apply their knowledge of research and design to create a viable design solution, and share the results. Along the way, students will level-up their design skill sets and tool sets by completing two practice design levels (beginner and intermediate) with associated design thinking activities, design vocabulary, and software tutorials before completing a final (advanced level) project.
Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to collaborate on the design of a product using different modeling techniques. Students will iterate on their designs with a focus on function. Finally, students will create 3D printed versions of their products to demonstrate concept mastery. The course will introduce students to the skills and tools used in the career fields of Engineering and Manufacturing. Learning Outcomes
