The Biology AP course is designed as the equivalent of a college introductory course usually taken by biology majors during their first year. After completing this course, students should be able to take the Biology AP exam at the end of the year, and with an appropriate score, they may receive college credit. The course is built around a series of open and guided-inquiry based laboratory activities and is focused on student research, experimentation, and analysis. Topics in Biology AP include biochemistry, cells and cell energetics, heredity, molecular genetics, evolutionary biology, cell communication, the structure and function of plants and animals, and ecology. The course is taught in a "flipped classroom" model. Students view podcasts at home for the content, and then interact in class time doing activities and labs.
